Energy Distribution Improvement for the Next Generation of Dehumidifiers
Abstract: The project aims to develop a heat shield to lower temperatures on the casing of a desiccant dehumidifier and to investigate the temperature distribution over the rotor of Munters MX230 dehumidifier. The heat shield lowers the temperature of a problematic hot surface and increases the energy transferred to the rotor which increases the efficiency of the desiccant dehumidifier. Concepts are evaluated and developed through a product development process inspired by Ulrich & Eppinger to ensure that the best concepts are used. The final concept is produced and will be further investigated at the laboratory at Munters. Simulations of each concepts are being developed in Solidworks to see the positive and the negative effects of the different concepts to ensure that the best ideas goes further in the product development process.
