Abstract: The agricultural plantingmachines are used just a few weeks every year. That means that the supply of service and spare parts have to be good to make the timeliness costs low at the agricultural hard working periods. The machines wear down successivly when they are used. The wear is harder on some parts than the others on a machine. Spare parts can be dicided into consumables. Wear parts of a product where the consumer expect to purchade a replacement part after some time and true spare parts which refers to parts of a product that may require to be exchanged after an incident of sort. Väderstad-Verken constructs seeders and tillage equipments and wish that they could make better forecasts for the needs of wear parts. The method that has been used is a case study based on a research commission. The case study has been complemented with interviews with farmers who use Rapid-seeders. The aim of this thesis is to analyze if the existing sales information could provide grounds for makeing forecasts of the future needs of certain wear parts. The study consist of a survey of the sales information regarding Rapid-seeders in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany and United Kingdom and looked how the sales of new machinery and the sales of wear parts correlates. One of the results is to make more studies about wear parts life time and the use of the Rapid-seeders to make better forecasts.
