Abstract: This paper contains a study attempting to answer the differences in East-West attitudes towards integrated communication tools. It does so by attempting to study Tencent QQ, a very popular instant messaging application in China. This paper attempts to answer this question by conducing interviews using a presentation of the Tencent QQ application and a subset of the questions defining the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. The study concludes that more time and effort is needed to modify this theory and adapt interview and user testing techniques to obtain a reliable answer.
