Abstract: Quality of Service in Mobile Cellular Networks is an increasinglyimportant research field. Society is demanding higher datatransmission rates and better reception than ever before. As the generations of wireless protocols, e.g, 3G-5G, are going toward shigher data rates, their cell range, or reception area is however constantly decreasing. This puts a demand on user equipment, e.g,phones to switch cell to maintain high quality of service. These switches, or Handover processes are demanding on the CPU. Hence, as handovers increase in numbers, it puts computational stress on the user equipment and radio base stations. The issue of computational effort is becoming especially problematic for simulation environments, as all computations are occurring on a centralized level and ultimately putting high demands on the CPU. This research offer contribution in the field of Radio Network Planning, and the handover process in simulation environments. By investigation of former research and its applied algorithms in the science of mobilecellular networks, this study suggests and implements an algorithm that can decrease the computational effort of handover processes in asimulation environment while maintaining the same quality of service. It is found that it is possible to relieve the computational stress by applying new algorithms. However, further research is needed toutilize the suggested algorithm.Tryckt av:
