Sundsvalls kommuns parkskogar : planering av framtida skogsskötsel med Heureka

Abstract: In this study the computer program Heureka PlanWise are used to create a management plan for a forest park area in an urban area that Sundsvalls municipality is managing. The study is based on previous inventories of the area. The study were aimed to develop a management plan that supports the municipality of Sundsvall in their work to manage the park forest. In the work to create the management plan, the managers of the park forest were interviewed to find out their vision for the park forest. A literature study was established to compile research that has already been done on recreational forests. The development of the management plan is based on the interview and the literature study. The results of the analyses with Heureka show that if the management plan is followed, the total recreational value will increase together with the growing stock. However, it is difficult to predict the financial result as Heureka does not consider all costs associated with maintenance of a park forest.
