Abstract: Erlang is a powerful and robust language for writing massively parallel and distributed applications. With the introduction of multi-core ARM processors, the embedded market will be looking for ways of taking advantage of the newfound opportunities for parallelism. To support the development of embedded applications using Erlang we want to provide Erlang and Embedded developers with a run-time system suited for embedded devices. We have managed to shrink the disk size of the Erlang runtime system by a factor of 42 without affecting the stability of the Erlang virtual machine. It is our firm belief that Erlang can play a vital role in the future of embedded systems.
