Abstract: Tablet and video analysis as an educational tool for riding lessons Riding is a complicated sport where the rider and the horse need to communicate in harmony. The riding teacher has a complex role because the teacher needs to consider both riders and horses. The riding teacher also needs to take every student´s individual learning style in consideration when teaching students in groups. Studies have shown that when educating riders, the instruction are most often given by auditive methods. When asking students, the result showed that students experienced that they easiest understood the instructions when they were given through visually methods. Video filming is a tool that has been studied both when educating teachers and when developing jumping education for riders. The aim of this study was to evaluate video analysis with tablet as a pedagogical tool for riding education. The study was built on focus group interviews with students who had been introduced to the pedagogical tool, and individual interviews with their teachers. The goal was to collect the students and teacher’s experiences connected to the video analysis. The result showed that the students and teachers experienced that the video analysis gave the students a deeper knowledge connected to their own riding and the exercises that had been used. They also experienced that the tool could help the rider in developing a feeling connected to the implementation of the exercises and their riding skills. The disadvantages of the video analysis were that they experienced it as time consuming. The pedagogical tool was not recommended for group lessons. The conclusion was that the pedagogical tool video analysis was experienced as helpful in the aim of giving the rider a deeper knowledge about their own riding skills. It could also be helpful for specific exercises. It could also help students in the developing of a feeling that can be connected to implementation of the exercises and their riding skills. The method of using the pedagogical tool in education however need to be further developed.
