Agricity

University essay from KTH/Arkitektur

Abstract: 10 billion people will inhabit this planet by 2050. In order to feed such a large number of people research shows that food production will need to increase by 70%.This project explores what a foodcentric city planning can look like, where agriculture is not only integrated into the built environment, but rather the main generator of urban form. A block typology specifically tailored to create optimal growing conditions is rolled out as a high density agricultural grid across Bromma airport, and addresses issues of combining large scale structures with small scale human life.
