The human-nature relationship in news reporting on environmental issues : A qualitative framing analysis of three news programmes for children

Abstract: Humans depend on nature to survive and are simultaneously crossing planetary boundaries (Raworth, 2017). Humans’ relationship to nature is, according to constructionist theory, connected with natures’ framing in the public discourse, and therefore also through the media (Hansen,2019). This thesis focuses on the human-nature relationship on children’s news programmes. Through a qualitative framing analysis material of three news programmes was examined and four overarching frames were found, suggesting an ambiguous relationship of humans and nature.
