Software Product Line Engineering Maturity Model for Small and Medium Sized Organisations

Abstract: This work is an attempt to create a software product line engineering maturitymodel (SPLEMM) suitable for small and medium sized enterprises (SME).Existing frameworks were analyzed, restructured, reduced and populated withexamples from available case studies. Theory based model was validated andexpanded with findings from empirical study.Result of the work is the maturity model that provides a way to get anoverview of SPLE paradigm and necessary adoption activities for potentialSPLE implementers. The model can be also used to evaluate and compareexisting product line activities, and to plan and support improvements in SPLEprocesses.Based on the conducted study it was recognised that available theory lacksproven case studies involving practitioners of SPLE. That is why there is a lotof room for expansion of the model in form of example activities.
