Composing an Evaluation Framework for Personal Information Management Tools

Abstract: Many of the employees of today’s corporations are knowledge workers, people who create, read, analyze and act upon information. Information that is stored in different places, in different file formats and accessed by different software. PIM (Personal Information Management) literature expresses a lot of challenges for our tools to overcome. We have compiled these into an evaluation framework that could be used to evaluate future PIM solutions. We have also created a software prototype with the purpose of addressing the challenges in the evaluation framework, which we conduct a theoretical evaluation of.
