Abstract: Real-time asset tracking can be used to increase personnel safety, security and workflow in different types of facility’s or assembly lines. There is many ways this can be done but one way is by using an Ultra Wide-band sensor network. This thesis describes a specific part of such a system. The task was to construct and evaluate the server software that will handle incoming data from the sensor network, but also how it uses the data to calculate the position of the tracked asset. The goal was to create an efficient and flexible server application that can handle multiple assets that uses an accurate positioning algorithm. The result showed with the best recorded configuration that towards the middle of the test area the accuracy measured was nine centimeters. With the maximum amount of positions that the test server could handle was 6000 positions per second. The conclusions about this thesis are that the positioning application is promising because of its accuracy, its dynamic ability’s and its performance.
