Deportations to Afghanistan: Cancellations in the airport at the hands of flight staff, passengers and organised movements

University essay from Malmö universitet/Kultur och samhälle

Abstract: This study is focused on deportations from Europe to Afghanistan and the resistance in airports against these deportations. This means, the resistance from pilots, passengers and organised movements on the day of deportation. The aim of the study is to get insight into the protest forms used in the airport and their effectiveness through semi-structured interviews with participants around in Scandinavia. In order to open up the topic, it provides background material of the many legal complexities of deportations to Afghanistan and the resistance against them. The topic is theorised through Henry David Thoreau (1849) civil disobedience and Thomas Hobbes (1651) political realism.
