  1. 11. Using a GIS to enable an economic, land use and energy output comparison between small wind powered turbines and large-scale wind farms: the case of Oslo, Norway.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Colin Potter; [2023]
    Keywords : Geography; GIS; Wind power; Renewable energy sources; urban wind energy; urban areas; planning; vertical axis wind turbines; comparative studies; urban integrated energy systems; Oslo; Roan; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Responding to an identified knowledge gap, the study aims to determine if smaller wind turbines located on top of existing urban buildings are more resource efficient (land utilization and economically) than large scale wind farms. To answer this question, using a GIS, the resource efficiency of the Roan wind farm in Northern Norway was compared to a theoretical modeled installation of small-scale wind turbines on top of buildings within a 2km radius study zone in central Oslo. 2. 12. The solar abundance of beryllium : constraining the solar problem via non-LTE modelling

    University essay from

    Author : Daria Ogneva; [2023]
    Keywords : atomic processes; radiative transfer; abundance;

    Abstract : Accurately determining the solar abundance of beryllium is a key to calibrate transport processes at the base of convective zone, which in turn is an improvement upon existing solar models and general understanding of the physical processes within the Sun. To determine an abundance, assumptions about the solar atmosphere must be made. READ MORE

  3. 13. Numerical Modelling of a Packed Bed Thermal Energy Storage for Applications in a Carnot Battery : KTH Thesis Report

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Gabriel Juul; [2023]
    Keywords : Thermal energy storage; Carnot battery; sand; packed bed; granular medium; porous medium; effective medium technique; effective thermal conductivity; paramedic study; 3D model; COMSOL; numerical modelling; Lagring av värmeenergi; Carnot-batteri; sand; packad bädd; granulärt medium; poröst medium; effektiv mediumteknik; effektiv värmeledningsförmåga; parametrisk studie; 3D-modell; COMSOL; numerisk modellering;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the heat transfer characteristics of a packed bed thermal energy storage device through the development of a 3D model in COMSOL Multiphysics. The model is based on a laboratory-scale device consisting of an aluminum box filled with sand, which acts as the thermal storage medium. READ MORE

  4. 14. Beyond Replicas : Repatriation, 3D Printing, and the Power of Copies

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för arkeologi och antikens kultur

    Author : Michael Francis; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis looks at the feasibility of using 3D modelling and printing and how this can help in repatriation efforts. Museums and archaeologists around the world spent the better part of the last two hundred years collecting and maintaining indigenous materials, often gathered under unethical means and circumstances.
