  1. 1. Polymerization of Zwitterionic Sulphobetaine Methacrylate and Modification of Contact Lens Substrate

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemivetenskap (CHE)

    Author : Tobias Ingverud; [2015]
    Keywords : Zwitterionic; Sulphobetaine; RAFT; ATRP; End-group-modification; Grafting-to; Contact lens; zwitterjonisk; RAFT; ATRP; ändgrupps modifiering; ympning-till; kontakt;

    Abstract : In this study, the zwitterionic monomer [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide (SBMA) was polymerized in a controlled manner by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The SBMA was also polymerized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) but in a less controlled manner why ATRP was discarded for further use in the study. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modification of nanofibrillated cellulose with stimuli-responsive polymers

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemivetenskap (CHE)

    Author : Carmen Cobo Sanchez; [2012]
    Keywords : thermoresponsive; nanofibrillated cellulose; biocomposites; block-copolymer; stimuliresponsive;

    Abstract : Research of new sustainable and low cost materials, such as cellulose, is of high interest. Modifications of the cellulose can be performed in order to create a “smart” material which responds to external stimuli, such as variations in pH and temperature, by changing its properties.
