  1. 1. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 2. 2. Wet Spinning of Cellulose-Lignin Precursor for Carbon Fibers : Effect of Coagulation Bath Composition & Spin Finish

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Julia Sundmark; [2023]
    Keywords : Carbon fiber; Cold alkali; Cold NaOH; lignin; cellulose; wet spinning; Kolfiber; kallalkali; lignin; cellulosa; våtspinning;

    Abstract : Carbon fibers (CF) are a material with a composition of over 90% carbon, which has high mechanical properties and low density. This unique combination of properties makes it requirable in applications such as vehicles, aerospace, wind power, and space industries. Commercially made CF are made using the fossil raw material polyacrylonitrile (PAN). READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterisation of Ionic Liquid doped Polybenzimidazole Membranes for Application in High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Adam Jacobsson Trönndal; [2023]
    Keywords : Fuel cells; Phosphoric acid; Polybenzimidazole; PA-PBI; Ionic liquid; IL; High temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell; HT-PEMFC; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; EIS; IL-PBI; Chemical engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In this study four membranes were tested and evaluated against each other for use in high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (HT-PEMFC) applications. A phosphoric acid (PA) doped polybenzimidazole (PBI) membrane, was used as a reference as the current state-of-the-art. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wet Spinning of Lignin and Cellulose Precursor Fibers Using Cold Sodium Hydroxide Dissolution

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Nazariy Voytyuk; [2022]
    Keywords : Alkaline Dissolution; Cold Alkali Process; Lignin; Precursor Fibers; Wet spinning; Alkalisk upplösning; Kall alkaliprocess; Lignin; Prekursorfibrer; Våtspinning;

    Abstract : Användningen av cellulosa och lignin för prekursorfibrer (PF) för kolfibrer (CF) är ett mycket intressant forskningsområde på grund av den stora miljöpåverkan som dagens PF-fossilbaserade råvara PAN har. Denna avhandling fokuserar på att utveckla PF med ett kallt NaOH-upplösningssystem med cellulosakoncentrationer från 4,5 till 5,5 viktprocent med varierande massaviskositet och tillsats av lignin från 0-40 viktprocent jämfört med cellulosa. 5. 5. Development and 3D Printing of Intrinsically Stretchable Materials for Microsupercapacitors

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Alexander Engman; [2020]
    Keywords : Stretchable electronics; Printed electronics; 3D printing; Direct Ink Writing; Additive manufacturing; Printed supercapacitor; Sträckbar elektronik; Tryckt elektronik; Friformsframställning; Direct InkWriting; Additiv tillverkning; Tryckt superkondensator;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to develop a simple Direct Ink Writing (DIW) method for fabricating intrinsically stretchable microsupercapacitors as ef- fective on-chip energy storage devices for the emerging stretchable electron- ics. Using the printing method for fabricating intrinsically stretchable elec- tronic components remains a novel approach. READ MORE
