  1. 16. Out-of-plane Ferromagnetic Resonance (FMR) measurements on magnetic nanoparticle dispersions for biomedical sensor applications

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik

    Author : Markus Back; [2020]
    Keywords : Ferromagnetic; magnetic; resonance; FMR; EPR; nanoparticle; microwave; coplanar; waveguide; cavity; s-parameter; gilbert; damping; gyromagnetic; liquid; biosensor; landau; lifshits; spin; polymer; composites; engineering physics; teknisk fysik; magnetism; ferromagnetisk; vågledare; resonans; mikrovågsteknik; nanopartiklar;

    Abstract : In this master work, we investigated the feasibility of a magnetic resonance measurement technique using magnetic nanoparticle dispersions in both liquid and solid form. The implementation is realised as a coplanar waveguide operating in the frequency range of 0.5 - 20 GHz and an electromagnet producing a static magnetic field of strength up to 1. READ MORE

  2. 17. Evaluating Sugar Signaling during Xylose Oxidation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Author : Viktor Persson; [2020]
    Keywords : Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yeast; xylose oxidation; sugar signaling; biosensor; applied microbiology; teknisk mikrobiologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The sugar signaling state of cells oxidizing xylose was investigated through the chromosomal integration of the Weimberg pathway into previously established biosensor strains capable of monitoring the Snf3p/Rgt2p, SNF1/Mig1p, and cAMP/PKA pathways through the expression of HXT1, SUC2, and TPS1, respectively. Ultimately, two new strains were successfully developed containing both the Weimberg pathway and a biosensor for either HXT1 (TMB CB 112) or TPS1 (TMB CB 117). READ MORE

  3. 18. Assessment of the Fluorescent Activities of Different Fluorescent Proteins for Potential Use as Biosensors in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Author : Johan Davidsson; [2020]
    Keywords : Fluorescent proteins; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Flow cytometry; CRISPR Cas9; Biosensors; Applied microbiology; Tillämpad mikrobiologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Development of genetically modified microorganisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae for use as microbial cell factories to produce fine and bulk chemicals has lately proceeded very rapidly, much thanks to new gene editing methods based on a CRISPR/Cas9 system adapted from bacteria which increases the rate of genetic engineering. However, development of methods which enable fast and simple screening of the best performing strains with specific sought-after characteristics is not advancing at the same pace. READ MORE

  4. 19. Field-effect transistor based biosensing of glucose using carbon nanotubes and monolayer MoS2

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Molekyl- och kondenserade materiens fysik

    Author : Nathan Ullberg; [2019]
    Keywords : field-effect transistor; biosensor; glucose; carbon nanotube; MoS2; 1D materials; 2D materials; nanotechnology; FET;

    Abstract : As part of the EU SmartVista project to develop a multi-modal wearable sensor for health diagnostics, field-effect transistor (FET) based biosensors were explored, with glucose as the analyte, and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) or monolayer MoS2 as the semiconducting sensing layer.  Numerous arrays of CNT-FETs and MoS2-FETs were fabricated by photolithographic methods and packaged as integrated circuits. 5. 20. Clinical Data Analysis for Conceptual Proof of Microwave Bone Healing Monitoring System for Craniosynostosis Patients

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets elektronik

    Author : Viktor Mattsson; [2018]
    Keywords : Clinical Data Analysis; Analytical Impedance Model; BDAS Project; Craniosynostosis;

    Abstract : In the BDAS project one of the goals is to create a new solution for monitoring bone healing to complement current techniques. Data have been collected in clinical trials from infants treated for Craniosynostosis by a craniotomic surgery. The data are collected with a biomedical sensor based in microwave technology. READ MORE
