  1. 1. A Comparison of Three Time-stepping Methods for the LLG Equation in Dynamic Micromagnetics

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Author : Simon Wredh; Anton Kroner; Tomas Berg; [2017]
    Keywords : LLG equation; Micromagnetism; Implicit midpoint; Midpoint extrapolation; Projection method;

    Abstract : Micromagnetism is the study of magnetic materials on the microscopic length scale (of nano to micrometers), this scale does not take quantum mechanical effects into account, but is small enough to neglect certain macroscopic effects of magnetism in a material. The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation is used within micromagnetism to determine the time evolution of the magnetisation vector field in a ferromagnetic solid. READ MORE

  2. 2. Micromagnetic simulations for the investigation of magnetic vortex array dynamics

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialfysik

    Author : Agne Ciuciulkaite; [2016]
    Keywords : micromagnetic simulations; ferromagnetic resonance; magnetic vortex; permalloy circular islands;

    Abstract : In this work the dynamics of permalloy circular magnetic islands of 225 nm radius and 10 nm thickness arranged into square lattices was investigated employing micromagnetic simulations.The simulations of the vortex magnetization loops and the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectra were carried out using a free micromagnetics simulation software Mumax3. 3. 3. Study of Magnetic Nanostructures using Micromagnetic Simulations and Monte Carlo Methods

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialfysik

    Author : Nils Bäckström; Jonathan Löfgren; Vilhelm Rydén; [2014]
    Keywords : frustration; magnets; spin ice; hysteresis; monte carlo; simulation; vortex; micromagnetics; metropolis;

    Abstract : We perform micromagnetic simulations in MuMax3 on various magneticnanostructures to study their magnetic state and response to external fields. Theinteraction and ordering of nanomagnetic arrays is investigated by calculating themagnetostatic energies for various configurations. READ MORE
