  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Nanoscale characterisation of model Ni-Mo catalyst active phases

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Jonas Elmroth Nordlander; [2022]
    Keywords : Ni-Mo catalysts; Hydrodeoxygenation; TEM; PXRD; Materials chemistry; Chemistry;

    Abstract : An important stepping stone in transitioning from a fossil-fuel based transportation system is the production of bio-fuels such as bio-oils. For bio-oils to be commercially viable, catalytic upgrading via hydrodeoxygenation is required, typically using Ni-Mo oxide or sulfide catalysts. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanoscale detection of insulin granule sub-structures using dSTORM imaging

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Yu Hong; [2020]
    Keywords : islet β-cells; dSTORM imaging; Alexa Fluor 647; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Diabetes mellitus is a global disease, mainly caused by insufficient insulin secre- tion from pancreatic islet β-cells. Insulin is stored in the granules of islet β-cells and released in response to extracellular stimuli e.g. glucose. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nanomechanical properties of nanocomposite polymer layer

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Tomasz Tokarski; [2019]
    Keywords : Nanocomposite; nanowear; nano mechanical properties; gel trapping; atomic force microscopy;

    Abstract : Interphase phenomenon gains more and more interest throughout the research community. An interphase is formed between a filler particle and a polymeric matrix, and it may constitute almost the entire volume of a nanocomposite. If the interphase have favorable mechanical properties it will thus result in a nanocomposite with such properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. MAGNETIC CHARACTERIZATION OF SELF-ASSEMBLED ONE-DIMENSIONAL NETWORKS OF MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Mario Salvador López Muñoz; [2019]
    Keywords : Nanomagnetism; Stoner-Wohlfarth; Magnetite Fe3O4; nanoparticles; Magnetic Characterization; Spark Discharge Technique; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a magnetic study of two dierent arrangements of Fe3O4 nanoparticles is presented. The nanoparticles are generated using an aerosol technique and guided onto a substrate. READ MORE
