  1. 1. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 2. 2. Study of surfactant-preservative and protein-preservative interactions in multi-dose injectable formulation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Javier Lagares Martín; [2023]
    Keywords : Phenol; polysorbate 80; cloud point; somatropin; aggregation; titration; light scattering; salt; surfactant; preservative; protein; tonicity adjusting agents; multi-dose injectable formulation; pharmaceutical technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Multidose injectable formulations require a preservative such as phenol to ensure sterility and protection against microbial contamination during clinical use. However, it is known that the interaction between these components and non-ionic surfactants such as polysorbate 80, also found in this type of formulations, present incompatibilities, which can lead to decreases in the efficacy of the product. 3. 3. Heart- and Sapwood Segmentation on Hyperspectral Images using Deep Learning

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för systemteknik

    Author : Samuel Hallin; Simon Samnegård; [2023]
    Keywords : Computer Vision; Hyperspectral Imaging; Heartwood; Sapwood; Deep Learning; Segmentation; Dimensionality Reduction; PCA; PLS; SVM; U-NET; U-within-U-Net;

    Abstract : For manufacturers in the wood industry, an important way to make the production more effective is to automate the process of detecting defects and different attributes on boards. One important attribute on most boards is heartwood and sapwood. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of acomplex robot structure : Development and analysis of a cast triple traction system for the robotoperating at CERN facilities

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Material och tillverkning

    Author : Gerard Aliana Cervera; [2023]
    Keywords : CERNBot; Traction; Topology optimization; Sand casting;

    Abstract : All devices working in hazardous environments have specific requirements to reduce the intervention of human power as much as possible. The robot that this thesis is focused on is no exception to this rule. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigation of high temperature stability of additive manufactured austenitic stainless steels for space applications

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Belén Alonso Rancurel; [2023]
    Keywords : austenitic stainless steel; additive manufacturing; high temperature corrosion; high temperature stability;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) techniques are being studied for their application in the aerospace industry. Numerous benefits come from the already in shape final piece, which needs reduced amount of prime material for its production and can have its shape numerically optimized for weight reduction.
