Artificial Intelligence in the Industrial Design Process

Abstract: This report covers the subject and impact of utilizing artificial intelligence tools for image generation in the process for industrial design. By evaluating the tools available on the market at the time of writing the report establishes a toolbox of relevant tools to the design process. These tools are then used to restructure established design processes into a new process and set of guidelines that incorporate these tools as a central part of the design process. The report then covers the “test run” of this process by developing a concept product, which in this case is a camera for a specific brand. Finally, the report covers the implications and potential further developments needed in order to fully incorporate artificial intelligence in the design process, along with potential ethical implications of utilizing these tools to aid in the creation of commercial products.
