  1. 1. Cosmological Constraints for a Varying Dark Energy Model

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Abdullah Alsakka; [2023]
    Keywords : Astronomy; Varying Dark Energy; Distances;

    Abstract : This paper uses the Pantheon+ data set that consists of 1701 light curves of 1550 unique type IaSupernova to find constraints on various cosmological models and compare them with a varying darkenergy model proposed by Chevallier, Polarski and Linder in the early 2000s and analyze it deeper.The results show a tipping point from a decelerating universe to an accelerating one at a redshift ofz = 0. 2. 2. Resolving the smallest scale of star formation at Cosmic Noon with JWST : Star-forming clumps in a galaxy lensed by Abell 2744

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för astronomi

    Author : Annalena Pless; [2023]
    Keywords : star formation; star-forming clumps; galaxy evolution;

    Abstract : At higher redshift galaxies exhibit increasingly irregular and clumpy morphologies, withstar-forming clumps dominating the FUV output of their host galaxies thus being inti-mately related to star formation and the formation and evolution of galaxies. This workexamines star-forming clumps in a remarkable, young spiral galaxy at Cosmic Noon witha redshift ofz= 2. READ MORE

  3. 3. Probing the Structure of Ionised ISM in Lyman-Continuum-Leaking Green Pea Galaxies with MUSE

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Chinmaya Nagar; [2023]
    Keywords : Emission-line ratio; Gaussian convolution; Green pea galaxies; ISM; Ionised ISM; Lyman continuum LyC ; Low-Redshift Lyman Continuum Survey LzLCS ; Lyman continuum emitter LCE ; LyC escape; LyC escape fraction; MUSE; MPDAF; Voronoi binning;

    Abstract : Lyman continuum (LyC) photons are known to be responsible for reionising the universe after the end of the Dark Ages, which marked a period called the Epoch of Reionisation (EoR). While these high-energy photons are thought to predominantly originate from young, hot, massive stars within the earliest galaxies, and contributions from high-energy sources like quasars and AGN, the origins of these photons are yet not well known and highly debated. 4. 4. Void Evolution and Cosmic Star Formation

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Joel Wasserman; [2023]
    Keywords : Void; Void Evolution; Cosmic Void; Star Formation Rate; Star Formation History; Cosmic Star Formation; Cosmology; Spherical Evolution Model; SvdW; Vdn; Excursion Set Theory; Excursion Set Formalism; Astrophysics; Astronomy; Cosmic Web; Matter Transfer; Tomrum; Tomrumsutveckling; Kosmiska Tomrum; Stjärnbildningshastighet; Stjärnbildningshistorik; Kosmisk stjärnbildning; Kosmologi; Sfärisk Evolutionsmodell; SvdW; Vdn; Exkursionsset teori; Exkursionsset Formalism; Astrofysik; Astronomi; Kosmiska Spindelnätet; Masstransport;

    Abstract : The rate at which stars have formed throughout the history of theuniverse is not constant, it started out slow, increased until around redshift ∼ 2 when it reversed and became slower again. The reason for this behaviour is still being investigated with various models and simulations usually based upon dark matter halos. READ MORE

  5. 5. Single-peaked gamma-ray bursts in the Fermi GBM catalogue

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Henric Hintze; [2022]
    Keywords : astroparticle physics; GBR; gamma-ray burst; single-peaked; single peaked; shock breakout; Fermi; GBM; gamma-ray burst monitor; light curve; low-luminosity; low luminosity; closure relation; astropartikelfysik; GBR; gammablixt; singelpeakad; shockbreakout; Fermi; GBM; gammablixtmonitor; ljuskurva; ljuskurvor; lågluminositets;

    Abstract : Gamma-ray burst light curves are notoriously irregular, yet a significant number consists of a single fast-rising, exponentially decaying pulse. These are called single-peaked light curves. READ MORE
