Abstract: Making sterilization machines for hospitals requires much testing. The testing takes place at the producing company. The testing takes a lot of time, and the machines consume a lot of electricity, water, and compressed air. In case of software failure, all the tests must be done again. Accordingly, there is a need for more environmental and economy-friendly testing. The Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) is a powerful test technique that can efficiently test embedded control systems. Embedded systems and HiLs are most common in the automotive industry. This research aims to create an environment, functioning as a workbench, in which controller-like hardware will operate. (The environment will use the PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) model and software comprising Measurement & Automation Explorer Help for PXI (MAX), LabVIEW, and VeriStand). The environment will simulate different sensors and signals so that the controller can be tested rapidly under a testing protocol before taking it to an actual machine. This thesis describes how a HiL simulation system was developed to make a much more environmentally and economy-friendly testing based on software without having a running machine that consumes much energy and water.
