  1. 1. Axially loaded screw joints in wooden structures exposed to fire : Fire tests in furnace and numerical calculations in TASEF of different screw mounting variations

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Henrik Pettersson; Emma Wiklund; [2022]
    Keywords : Fire; wood; screw joints; strength; temperature; TASEF; Brand; trä; skruvförband; bärförmåga; temperatur; TASEF;

    Abstract : To achieve sufficient stability of a structure in a fire scenario, a thorough design of joints in wooden structures are as important as the design of the construction itself. As an earlier study points out, there are no existing design method available to determine the load capacity of an axially loaded screw joint in wooden structures, which complicate the process of a thorough design of the joint in a fire scenario. 2. 2. CFD Simulations of Velocity and Temperature Distributions of the AuraGen Axial Flux Machine

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Huanyu Chen; [2022]
    Keywords : CFD simulation; Induction machine; Temperature distribution; Velocity distribution; CFD-simulering; Hastighetsfördelning; Induktionsmaskin; Temperaturfördelning;

    Abstract : Axial flux induction machines are attractive solutions for electric vehicle applications nowadays. Thanks to their high torque density and no need for rare-earth material for permanent magnets, axial flux induction machines are the most used electric machine type with good performance and low prices. 3. 3. Development of Test Rig and Experimental Evaluation of Hydrostatic Bearings for an Axial Flux Machine

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Amir Avdic; Kishore-Babu Vejendla; [2022]
    Keywords : viscous losses; hydrostatic bearing; hydrodynamics; thin oil film.; Viskösa förluster; generator; hydrostatiska lager; hydrodynamik; tunn oljefilm.;

    Abstract : A novel electric machine design, similar to an axial flux machine, incorporates hydrostatic bearings to increase efficiency and stability of said machine. In this thesis, the feasibility of a hydrostatic solution is explored and evaluated by development, manufacturing, and assembly of a test rig, as well as running experimental tests with it. 4. 4. Electromagnetic Sizing of Axial-Flux Induction Machines and Experimental Validation

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Leonardo Colombo; [2021]
    Keywords : Sizing algorithm; Double-stator axial-flux machines; Finite-element method; Material identification.; Dimensioneringsalgoritm; Dubbel statoriska axiella flödesinduktionsmaskiner; Finita-element metoden; Material-identifieringsprocedurer;

    Abstract : With a rising drive towards greener means of transportation, electrical machines for propulsion are becoming a scientific field of major interest. In particular, part of the research studying these devices focuses its efforts on axial-flux machines, which compared to radial-flux machines can offer a better length-to-diameter ratio and higher torque arm for similar ratings. 5. 5. Validation of the Westinghouse BWR nodal core simulator POLCA8 against Serpent2 reference results

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Mathilde Gaillard; [2021]
    Keywords : Nodal Core Analysis; Monte Carlo Methods; CBH Effects; Nodal kärnanalys; Monte Carlo-metoder; CBH-effekter;

    Abstract : When a new nodal core simulator is developed, like all other simulators, it must go through an extensive verification and validation effort where, in the first stage, it will be tested against appropriate reference tools in various theoretical benchmark problems. The series of tests consist of comparing several geometries, from the simplest to the most complex, by simulating them with the nodal core simulator developed and with some higher order solver representing the reference solution, in this case on the Serpent2 Monte Carlo transport code.
