  1. 1. Optimizing a Steering System for a KTH Formula Student Race car

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Carl Elgcrona; Emil Nordahl; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The primary objective of this study is to develop and evaluate a steering controller for aFormula Student driverless electric vehicle to enhance its performance and efficiency. By creatinga testing setup and testing scripts, the controller's sensitivity to various CAN bus parameters, suchas periodicity and message priority, could be assessed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Aerodynamic Concept Evaluation of Formula Student Side Structure

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Gabriel Ågren; [2023]
    Keywords : Formula Student; KTH Formula Student; race car aerodynamics; CFD; Multi-element wing;

    Abstract : Formula Student is a global engineering competition where university students collaborate to design, construct, and race formula-style cars. Aerodynamics is one aspect in the vehicle design that can improve on-track performance by increasing cornering and straight-line speed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Prototype of a Charge Controller for a Formula Student Electric Vehicle

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Fredrik Stoltz; Yves Obreykov; [2022]
    Keywords : PCB; CAN; Charging; LVGL; embedded GUI; HMI;

    Abstract : The demand for electric vehicles is ever-increasingand as such, there needs to be an efficient and easy way to chargetheir batteries. Aiming to simplify the use of chargers this reporthas tackled the challenge of developing a prototype for charginga Formula Student Electric Vehicle. READ MORE

  4. 4. Air Cooling of Lithium Polymer Batteries : Experiments and Calculations on the KTH Formula Student 2022 Race Car Accumulator

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : William Olsson; Linus Grinde; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Lithium batteries work optimally at a temperature of around 15 to 35 °C, with a maximum temperature of around 60 °C. To get the most performance out of a formula student car the cooling needs to keep the battery cells within these temperatures during the competition. READ MORE

  5. 5. Design of compact automotive heat exchanger, analysing the effects of RANS models and utilising Additive Manufacturing

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Nikhil Srikkanth; Bartosz Brzuchalski; [2022]
    Keywords : Turbulence; Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes; KTH Formula Student; metal additive manufacturing; CFD; turbulent kinetic energy; boundary layer;

    Abstract : The analytical modelling of complex turbulent airflow remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of physics, but in this paper two widely used Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes models (k-$\epsilon$ and k-$\omega$ SST) are compared while designing a heat exchanger for the KTH Formula Student electric race car. CAD software was used to design lattices for the heat exchanger core and theorise about how to increase heat transfer while also taking into account the utilisation of metal additive manufacturing.
