  1. 1. A Geophysical Survey of Northern Utö

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Nicole Flanders; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A geophysical investigation on the northern part of Utö was carried out between 2020 and 2021 to asses the extent of the iron ore (BIFs) and the iron bearing sulfides that have been surveyed and mined in the past. The survey using analog field equipment combined magnetometry, gravimetry, susceptibility, leveling, density, and thin-section microscopy. READ MORE

  2. 2. MANGO - Generating 2D-Magnetic Field Maps From Normal-Conducting Magnets Of Experimental Areas

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Ambre Visive; [2023]
    Keywords : Applied Physics; Particle Physics; MANGO; Magnetic Field Maps; Normal-Conducting Magnets; Finite-Element Modelling; Opera-2D; Git Repository; Python Package; Beam Lines; Experimental Areas; CERN; Tillämpad Fysik; Partikelfysik; MANGO; Magnetfältskartor; Normalkonduktiva Elektromagneter; Finit Elementmodellering; Opera-2D; Git Repository; Python Package; Partikelstrållinje; Experimentområden; CERN;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses the development of MANGO, a tool created to model normal-conducting magnets which were installed in the 1970s in the experimental areas at CERN, and store their analysis. MANGO formulates an answer to two problems faced by the physicists of the Beam Department when they model a beam line: first, how to produce new magnetic field maps and, second, how to easily access existing ones? It contains a multi-use package that offers an automated process to produce magnetic field maps from finite-element models of magnets. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ion and ENA precipitation onto the upper atmosphere of Venus : Estimate of precipitation maps using data from a hybrid model

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Lorenzo Obersnel; [2023]
    Keywords : Eneregetic Neutral Atoms; Venus; Ion precipitation; ENA precipitation; Atomi Neutri Energetici; Venere; precipitazione di ioni; precipitazione di atomi neutri; Energisk Neutral Atom; Venus; Utfällningen joner; Utfällningen Energisk Neutral Atom;

    Abstract : Venus does not have a strong intrinsic magnetic field as the Earth, and its magnetosphere is induced by the interaction of the solar wind with the ionosphere. The near-Venus space environment is characterized by the presence of a bow shock and of an induced magnetic boundary linked to the interplanetary magnetic field orientation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hybrid Simulations of Solar Wind Plasma Interaction with the Lunar Reiner Gamma Magnetic Anomaly

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : David Frisk Strömberg; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The Moon has small scale regions of strong magnetic fields scattered over its surface, known as crustal fields. Coexisting with some of the strongest crustal fields are peculiar markings in the lunar soil, called lunar swirls, which are suggested to be formed by magnetosphere-like interactions between the crustal fields and the solar wind plasma. 5. 5. Quantitative susceptibility mapping of the knee: A comparison of approaches for addressing fatty tissue

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Cornelia Säll; [2023]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background/purpose Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is an MRI-based post processing technique to evaluate the magnetic susceptibility, χ, of human tissue using phase data. While brain imaging has been the most common application, other areas have also raised interest. READ MORE
