  1. 1. EVOKED PHASE COHERENCE AS A BIOMARKER FOR ADAPTIVE NEUROMODULATION IN RAT MODEL OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Author : Love Zackrisson; [2023]
    Keywords : Adaptive; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Disease; Rat model; 6-OHDA; ITC; Phase Coherence; Bayesian Model; Classifier; Spinal Cord Stimulation; Deep Brain Stimulation.; Adaptiv; Closed Loop; Neuromodulation; Parkinson’s Sjukdom; Råttmodell; 6-OHDA; ITC; Faskoherens; Bayesiansk Modell; Klassificerare; Ryggradsstimulering; Djup Hjärnstimulering.;

    Abstract : Neuromodulation, such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS), has been shown to modulate pathophysiological brain activity and provide symptomatic therapy for several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease. The effectiveness of this therapy could likely be further improved by neuromodulation that is adaptive, delivering stimulation more selectively, by monitoring a biomarker in recorded brain signals, which indicates the presence of a pathological state. 2. 2. Assessment of Functional Connectivity Impairment in Rat Brains

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Androula Savva; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : While the rodent model has long been used in brain research, there exists no standardisedprocessing routine that can be employed for analysis and investigation of disease models. Thepresent thesis attempts to investigate a diseased brain model by implementing a collection ofscripts, combined with algorithms from existing neuroimaging software, and adapting themto the rodent brain, in an attempt to examine when and how monaural canal atresia affectsthe functional connectivity of the brain. 3. 3. Effects of three different housing systems on activity and physiological parameters in male Spontaneously Hypertensive rats and Sprague Dawley rats

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Author : Christina Remes; [2007]
    Keywords : animal welfare; laboratory rats;

    Abstract : Laboratory rats spend a majority of their lives in their home-cages. The cage often used for rats, Makrolon type IV, only gives them limited opportunities for physical activity. The welfare of the rats would increase by housing them in larger cages that allow an increased amount of physical activity. READ MORE
