  1. 1. Projective Geometry in Kinematics

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för matematik och matematisk statistik

    Author : Emil Eriksson; [2024]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we study projective geometry and show a connection to kinematics. We show how the group of rigid body motions in three-dimensional space can be parameterized on a hyperbolic quadric in a seven-dimensional projective space. We also show that this quadric is a geometry with triality, and we discuss triality from a kinematic viewpoint. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multiscale & Multiphysics Modelling of Thrust Pad (Air) Bearings

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Nipon Roy; [2023]
    Keywords : Finite element modelling; Air bearing; Multiphysics simulations; Air lubrication; surface texture; Topology optimization;

    Abstract : Without lubrication, machines are not imaginable to perform over a long period of time and complete their designated operations. With its omnipresent availability, the air is capable of functioning as a lubricant in long operations very efficiently. Moreover, thrust bearings support axial loads and transmit power at the same time under heavy loads. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wrist Angle Estimation Using Two Wearable Inertial Measurement Units

    University essay from KTH/Medicinteknik och hälsosystem

    Author : Arvin Razavi; [2023]
    Keywords : IMU wrist angle estimation; Wrist absolute angle; IMU-based human motion capture; orientation filter; Complementary filter; Kalman filter; IMU handledsvinkeluppskattning; handleds absolutvinkel; IMU-baserad mänsklig rörelsefångst; orienteringsfilter; komplementfilter; Kalman-filter;

    Abstract : Hand-intensive work is closely related to the prevalence of upper body and hand/wrist work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in office work, manufacturing, service industries, as well as the healthcare industry. Some risk factors include vibrations, forceful exertions, heavy manual handling, repetitive motions, and prolonged nonneutral wrist postures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural Dynamics at Higher Frequencies using the Finite Element Method : Assessment of Solver Algorithms and Component Mode Synthesis for Dynamic Response Analysis of Large Structures

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Khashaiar Noushin; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Scania is making a transition from traditional combustion engines to electric vehicles and therefore developing methodology for high frequency analysis of large structures. The computational time size of results files are impractically high, making any analysis infeasible. READ MORE

  5. 5. Unpacking the Insta-girls : The Ultimate Evolution of the Celebrity Fashion Model

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Modevetenskap

    Author : Alexandre Zamboni; [2022]
    Keywords : fashion model; celebrity; social media; persona; beauty ideal; bodily discipline;

    Abstract : The last decade has seen the rise of a new trinity of supermodels, the so-called Insta-girls, Kendall Jenner, Gigi, and Bella Hadid. Besides mastering the art of digital self-promotion, they belong to famous Californian families with strong ties to show business. READ MORE
