  1. 16. Humidity’s effect on strength and stiffness of containerboard materials : A study in how the relative humidity in the ambient air affects the tensile and compression properties in linerboard and fluting mediums

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörs- och kemivetenskaper

    Author : Frida Strömberg; [2016]
    Keywords : Compression strength; compression stiffness; tensile stiffness; tensile strength; relative humidity; SCT; containerboard; liner; fluting;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the difference between containerboard materials strength and stiffness properties in tension and compression, how the mechanisms behind compressive and tensile properties are affected by the relative humidity of the ambient air and how the relative humidity affects the compressive response of the fibre network. These properties are used to predict the lifetime performance of corrugated boxes and to prevent early collapses of the boxes and thereby waste or harm of the transported goods inside. READ MORE

  2. 17. Natural Refrigerants in Data Center Cooling with Thermosiphon Application

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : VICTOR HEINERUD; ANDRÉ SAHLSTEN; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ever since the computer was invented, there has been a need of data storage and the demand has strictly grown since. This has resulted in a huge amount of data centers and the trend has shown no signs of changing. The data centers are powered by electricity and in 2010 the electricity consumption for data centers stood for 1. READ MORE

  3. 18. Qualitative analysis of the possibilities of a suggested device for waste compression and grain size reduction at source

    University essay from Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för bygg- energi- och miljöteknik

    Author : Gonzalo Riñones Diez; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This paper discusses the possibilities of developing and installing a mechanical wastetreatment device – proposed by the author – intended to be used in residences or wastecollecting points. The device would perform the job of waste classification, grain sizereduction and volume compression off the main municipal waste families at theproduction place, thus, reducing the energy and economic cost in the collection andtransportation processes. 4. 19. TRANSIENT THERMAL MODEL OF A MINIBUS' CABIN AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE AIR-CONDITIONING CONTROL STRATEGIES

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Filip Bjurling; [2013]
    Keywords : TRANSIENT THERMAL MODEL OF A MINIBUS CABIN AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE AIR-CONDITIONING CONTROL STRATEGIES Thermal Model Experiments Validation Electric Car Vapor Vapour Compression Matlab Simulink Trnsys Excel;

    Abstract : Improving the climate system of cars is important since it is the largest auxiliary load in a standard vehicle with an increase of fuel consumption by up to 20%. In Electric Vehicles (EV) the range of the car is more limited than in a fossil fueled car; furthermore there is a limited waste heat available from the EV, approximately 2-3kW at 40oC for heating and defogging in winter. 5. 20. Algal Flue Gas Sequestration and Wastewater Treatment : An Industrial Experiment

    University essay from KTH/Industriell ekologi; KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Jonas Lindblom; Max Larsson; [2011]
    Keywords : industriell ekologi; industrial ecology;

    Abstract : CJP Solutions och Waste Handling and Management (WHAM) är två företag i Melbourne, Australien, som utvecklar en process för återvinning av bioslam från Melbourne Waters reningsverk. Slammet är förorenat med metaller från industriellt avloppsvatten som har behandlats tillsammans med det kommunala avloppsvattnet. READ MORE
