  1. 21. Micro-CT based finite element models for mechanical strength assessment of glass ceramic scaffolds obtained through the robocasting technique

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Gustav Thessén; [2022]
    Keywords : µ-CT modelling; phase-field method; bio-glass scaffolds; strength assessment; Mikrotomografi; μ-CT; fasfältsmetoden; bio-glas stödstrukturer; brottgräns;

    Abstract : In this thesis, micro computed tomography (μ−CT) scans of a bio-glass scaffold produced by the robocasting technique was used to create finite element method (FEM) models with the purpose of determining its mechanical strength. Prior to this, a Matlab script was used to create several simplified geometries of the scaffold in an effort to determine the importance of scaffold design parameters (such as the fiber compenetration between two adjacent printing planes) on the strength of the scaffold. 2. 22. Swingarm and Rear Suspension Design in an Electric Reverse Trike

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Innovation

    Author : Hannes Nilsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Swingarm; Trike; Topology optimisation; Topology optimization; FEM; Finite Element Method; FEA; Finite Element Analysis; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : OMotion AB is developing a new model of their vehicle that will house a more powerful motor than the current model, which uses a hub motor in the rear wheel. The motor will be mounted behind the seats in the rear of the vehicle, entailing that drive by either chain or belt will be necessary. READ MORE

  3. 23. A comparative evaluation of hydrostatic pressure and buckling of a large cylindrical steel tank designed according to EN14015 and according to the Eurocodes

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggteknik (BY)

    Author : Musole Kambita; [2022]
    Keywords : Cylindrical steel tanks; yield strength; carbon steel; high strength steel; design load; buckling; stiffening rings; Finite Element Method FEM ; Linear Elastic Bifurcation LBA ; and Geometrically and Materially Nonlinear Analysis with Imperfections GMNIA .;

    Abstract : Above ground steel storage tanks are used worldwide for the storage of various liquids. EN 14015:2005, which has traditionally been used to design the tanks, does not necessarily fulfil the requirements of the Swedish Building Code. READ MORE

  4. 24. Investigation of case hardened steel subjected to torsion: An experimental and numerical elastic-plastic material study

    University essay from KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Author : Jonathan Fridstrand; [2022]
    Keywords : Torsion; Shear stress-strain relation; Elastoplastic material; Case hardened steel; Custom material model; Vridning; Skjuvtöjning och -spänning; Elastiskt-plastiskt material; Sätthärdat stål; Anpassad materialmodell;

    Abstract : There is currently a knowledge gap regarding the plastic material properties of many steel types that Atlas Copco use in their high torque power tools. This makes it difficult to fully utilise the capabilities of the Finite Element Method (FEM) to aid the developmental process. READ MORE

  5. 25. Including Finite Larmor Radius Effects on RF Heating of Fusion Plasmas using Weak-Form Contributions in COMSOL

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Jonas Christ; [2022]
    Keywords : plasma; fusion; RF; radio frequency; IBW; FW; ion Bernstein wave; fast wave; simulation; FEM; finite element method; Taylor; Taylor expansion; COMSOL; MATLAB; FLR; finite larmor radius; magnetized plasma; hot plasma; thermal plasma; plasma; fusion; radiofrekvens; simulation; FEM; finita elementmethod; Taylor; Taylorutveckling; COMSOL; MATLAB; FLR; ändliga Larmorradie-effekter;

    Abstract : In a fusion plasma, the ions have to be heated to reach fusion relevant temperatures. One possibility is to launch an electromagnetic wave in the radio frequency band into the plasma. This wave can resonate with the ions at their cyclotron frequency and hence, the method is called ion cyclotron resonance heating. READ MORE
