  1. 1. Validation of simulation with enhanced kaon production to investigate kaon background for LDMX

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lisa Andersson Loman; [2023]
    Keywords : Dark matter; experimental physics; simulations; kaons; particle physics; LDMX; background studies; mörk materia; partikelfysik; kaoner; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Dark matter is one of our universe’s largest mysteries and very little is known about what it is. One of the dominating theories, that it originates from an early universe thermal relic, indicates that it has interaction with the Standard Model. READ MORE

  2. 2. Study of Particle Production Mechanisms in PYTHIA 8 using Angular Correlations

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Joakim Alnefjord; [2017]
    Keywords : pythia; alice; particle; production; mechanisms; angular; correlations; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : An analysis of two-particle angular correlations was recently performed on measurements taken from pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV by ALICE at the LHC. The correlations for mesons are in good agreement with simulations performed in Monte Carlo event generators such as PYTHIA and PHOJET, but there is a significant difference for baryons. READ MORE

  3. 3. Charged pion spectra at high pT in pp collisions at (roten ur) S = 900 GeV, measured by the ALICE TPC

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Lene Bryngemark; [2011]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The ALICE Time Projection Chamber (TPC) is used for tracking and measuring momentum and specific energy loss, dE/dx, of charged particles produced in hadron collisions at the LHC. This Master’s dissertation describes the statistical identification of charged hadrons (pions, kaons and protons) on the relativistic rise (transverse momentum pT > 3 GeV/c) of the dE/dx curve of the ALICE TPC.
