  1. 6. Moisture risks with CLT-panels subjected to outdoor climate during construction : focus on mould and wetting processes

    University essay from KTH/Byggteknik och design

    Author : Johan Öberg; Erik Wiege; [2018]
    Keywords : moisture; CLT; massive wood; mould; WUFI; drying; construction; weather protection. best practice; fukt; KL-trä; massivt trä; mögel; WUFI; torkning; konstruktion; väderskydd; best practice;

    Abstract : When going through relevant research, moisture safety guidelines and talking to builders, moisture experts and architects it is clear - and not surprising - that water and wood make no easy combination. The experiences from building with cross laminated timber (CLT) differ from building sites and there are good and bad examples building without weather protection. READ MORE

  2. 7. Design and manufacture of structure and hull for large AUV

    University essay from KTH/Marina system

    Author : Billy Vendel Olofsson; [2018]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The main goal with the master thesis was to design and manufacture a frame and hull to a large AUV which KTH will use in research. The general aim for the Maribot LoLo (Long Endurance, Long Range AUV) is to act as an experimental platform and tool for a wide range of research activities, where all four capabilities within the SMaRC area (Autonomy, Perception, Endurance and Communication) can be tested, improved and demonstrated. 3. 8. Composite Hydrofoil Manufacturing For An Autonomous Surface Vessel

    University essay from KTH/Marina system

    Author : Anton Svensson; [2018]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The use of composite materials has been common in small craft boat building for a long time. In recent years, there has been a huge push in the development of different types of appendages such as hydrofoils. These hydrofoils are commonly manufactured in carbon fibre composites, due to high requirements in weight and stiffness. READ MORE

  4. 9. EMBRACING THE DIGITAL TO THE HAND MADE : Bridging digital technology with glassblowing moulds crafting methods

    University essay from Konstfack/Keramik & Glas

    Author : Noam Dover; [2017]
    Keywords : craft; open-source; amphora; 3D-printing; clay-printing; clay; glassblowing; mould; ceramic mould; embodiment; maker; tool; tool-making;

    Abstract : Abstract This report accompanies my Master project in the fields of ceramic and glass, the CRAFT! MA program, Konstfack. In this project I fuse my industrial design toolbox and my current engagement in open-source 3D printing technology with my ceramic and glass craft practice. READ MORE

  5. 10. A new approach to simulating the draping of prepreg composites manufactured by hand layup

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Vincent Maymard; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Kinematic drape simulations, of applying woven reinforcements to complex geometries, have to date largely focused on characterising the ply shape and the deformations from fitting it to the surface of a mould; amongst other manufacturing management outputs. This is increasingly unsatisfactory: it does not allow for any prediction into the effect of geometry and changes on the layup; does not realistically simulate the draping process as achieved by operators; instruct on the process of how to manipulate a ply to achieve the deformations required, or; enable the information gathered to be exploited in simple useful formats.
