Abstract: TrueVoice is a software framework containing methods for improving speech quality in hands-free full-duplex communication systems. It has previously been successfully implemented in embedded systems such as conference phones. However, software written for embedded systems are often tailored to perform a particular task and may not suitable for general-purpose operating systems such as Android. This thesis gives an introduction to relevant speech enhancement methods and present how audio functionality is obtained in Android. It then describes how a prototype was implemented to show that it is indeed possible to implement TrueVoice successfully on Android.
