  1. 31. Development of headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry method for analysis of volatile organic compounds in board samples : Correlation study between chromatographic data and flavor properties

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörs- och kemivetenskaper (from 2013)

    Author : Thea Zethelius; [2021]
    Keywords : Solid phase microextraction SPME ; method development; volatile organic compounds VOCs ; food contact material FCM ; flavor experience; design of experiment DoE ; multivariate analysis;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis work was to develop a headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) method to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in board samples and to statistically investigate potential correlation between chromatographic data and flavor data obtained from a trained panel. The developed method would hopefully serve as a complement to the already established routine analyses at Stora Enso and gain an increased understanding of which VOCs in the board influence its flavor properties. 2. 32. Greenhoue gas flux over a 50-year post permafrost thaw gradient. Decomposition of soil organic carbon from the Swedish tussock tundra.

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Johan Martinelli; [2020-02-11]
    Keywords : greenhouse gas; permafrost;

    Abstract : As the globe is warming the extent of permafrost drastically decreases in the high latitudes. Upon thaw the stored soil organic carbon (SOC) undergoes rapid decomposition and is partly released as trace gases to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  3. 33. Effects of cold treatment on Arabidopsis thaliana : a study in the change of gene expression levels in some selected COR-genes and composition of important cell membrane lipids of A. thaliana

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Author : Artur Andersson; [2020]
    Keywords : Arabidopsis thaliana; cold stress; membrane lipids; gene expression; quantification; PCR; extraction;

    Abstract : The effect of cold stress in Arabidopsis thaliana, mouse cress, was examined. The object was to investigate how gene expression and membrane lipid configuration was affected in seedlings when being treated with low temperature. READ MORE

  4. 34. Application of mass defect filtering and statistical analysis for non-target data mining of gas and soot data from a study testing different firefighting methods

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Danielle Ydstål; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Due to the high temperatures during a fire event, a large variety of compounds are formed or released from burning materials, all of which have a varying degree of environmental effects. In an incidental fire there are several variables that are important for which and how much combustion products that are formed, including the burning material, ventilation (presence of air), and temperature. 5. 35. Mechanism of Formation of Soft Particles in Biodiesel Fuel Blends

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Roberta Maria Fiorenza; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The large environmental impact related to the use of fossil fuel has driven the shift toward renewable sourced alternatives. Fossil diesel can be nowadays replaced by biodiesel, obtained from vegetable oils and fats, mostly used as biodiesel blends. READ MORE
