Abstract: This report is the result of a master thesis at the Department of InformationTechnology at Uppsala University. This master thesis has been performed at Scania CV AB, Södertälje, during 2008. The purpose of this master thesis was to improve the usability and design of the graphical interface of the Scania Fleet Management Portal. Scania is one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks for heavy transport that has a solution which connects vehicles to the office. The web based portal is a way for the office to keep track of the logistics for the hauliage. A usability study was made with a number of interviews to gather responses from the users of the portal. This evaluation, based on most of the interviews, but also opinions of my own, mentor and employees of Scania, resulted in a new, improved prototype of the portal. This report is a summary of the project that was concluded with this master thesis. It consists of four major topics; an introduction to the theory of usability and analysis technologies, a review of related portals, what kind of users there are and how they use the portal and finally, a usability analysis of usability problems with a solution that resulted in the new, improved prototype.
