Interactive Network Visualization of Insurance Portfolios

Abstract: Companies are seeking new ways to analyse data, and network visualizations are a great tool to enhance the ability to understand relational data. The objective of this thesis project was to build an interactive network visualization of an insurance company’s portfolio. The resulting visualization helps users catch sight of patterns and outliers that might, otherwise, be overlooked. The results were achieved through the combination of R packages shiny and visNetwork and include both text and slider inputs for precise data filtering, as well as tools for highlighting, zooming, and interacting with nodes for more detailed information.
