Industrial Concentration: Fur trade, Canadian Banks and the Textile Industry, Pre-Confederation-1930

University essay from Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

Abstract: This article examines antecedent conditions present during the colonial period and how it influenced finance institutions in Canada. The analysis of the Canada provides a case in which to compare to the other cases, already examined by Prof. Steven H. Haber- USA, Mexico and Brazil. The Canadian case concurs with Haber's argument that countries that facilitate heavy constraints on credit contribute to industrial concentration.
