  1. 1. Using a GIS to enable an economic, land use and energy output comparison between small wind powered turbines and large-scale wind farms: the case of Oslo, Norway.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Colin Potter; [2023]
    Keywords : Geography; GIS; Wind power; Renewable energy sources; urban wind energy; urban areas; planning; vertical axis wind turbines; comparative studies; urban integrated energy systems; Oslo; Roan; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Responding to an identified knowledge gap, the study aims to determine if smaller wind turbines located on top of existing urban buildings are more resource efficient (land utilization and economically) than large scale wind farms. To answer this question, using a GIS, the resource efficiency of the Roan wind farm in Northern Norway was compared to a theoretical modeled installation of small-scale wind turbines on top of buildings within a 2km radius study zone in central Oslo. 2. 2. Technical performance modelling and optimization of PVT collectors in GSHP integration

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Marin Courcault; [2023]
    Keywords : PVT; ISO9806:2017; mass flow; use conditions; test conditions; coefficients optimization; TRNSYS; PVT; ISO9806:2017; massflöde; användningsförhållanden; testförhållanden; optimering av koefficienter; TRNSYS;

    Abstract : In order to contribute to reducing the CO2 emissions related to heating in housing buildings, PVT+GSHP systems appear to be interesting solutions and therefore need to be further investigated to optimise their design and increase their deployment on the field. This thesis focused on building PVT model, using the ISO9806:2017, to be integrated in a PVT+GSHP model and determining optimal PVT design parameters for this system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Microeletromechanical Systems for Tunable Ring Resonators on a Silicon Platform

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Chris Phong Van Nguyen; [2021]
    Keywords : Integrated photonics; Silicon Photonics; MEMS; Silicon Photonic MEMS; Ring Resonator; Telecommunications; Integrerad fotonik; Silicon Photonics; MEMS; Silicon Photonic MEMS; Ringresonator; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : Advancements in photonic integrated circuits, so-called PICs, have progressed fast in the last decades. More complex PICs are getting developed, which are promising in possibly offering advantages like low power consumption and high-performance computing. Re-programmable photonic FPGAs are one of these candidates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Rooftop plant factories: effects on energy use for heating, cooling and electric lighting

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

    Author : Yizhi Zhang; [2021]
    Keywords : Urban and peri-urban agriculture and forestry UPAF ; urban farming UF ; rooftop greenhouse RTG ; lighting; daylighting; energy conservation; roof; greenhouse; food; cities.; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Within the next thirty years, two thirds of the human population will live in a city. This growing urban population requires a major shift in the way we produce and distribute food, since industrial agriculture practices contribute to climate change, biodiversity losses, pollution of waterways, soil degradation, etc. READ MORE

  5. 5. LCC and LCA for Low Temperature Heating Integrated with Energy Active Envelope Systems

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik
