  1. 1. Syntax-based Concept Alignment for Machine Translation

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik

    Author : Arianna Masciolini; [2023-03-30]
    Keywords : computational linguistic; machine translation; concept alignment; syntax; dependency parsing; Universal Dependencies; Grammatical Framework;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a syntax-based approach to Concept Alignment (CA), the task of finding semantical correspondences between parts of multilingual parallel texts, with a focus on Machine Translation (MT). Two variants of CA are taken into account: Concept Extraction (CE), whose aim is to identify new concepts by means of mere linguistic comparison, and Concept Propagation (CP), which consists in looking for the translation equivalents of a set of known concepts in a new language. 2. 2. Properties of Common Dependencies in the NPM Ecosystem

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Bo Viktor Folke Bruno; Simon Frisk; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The utilization of dependencies has become a very central part of softwaredevelopment. Dependencies themselves often have dependencies, creating so calleddependency trees, that make up the supply chain of software. This study performs data analysison dependency trees of 100 popular packages in the NPM ecosystem. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Potential of Combining Christian Faith and Nature Conservation : exploring the Potential in a Literature Review and Developing an Environmental Education Program for Creation Care with the Aim of Mitigating Human-Wildlife Conflicts

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Author : Svenja Tornow; [2023]
    Keywords : human-wildlife conflicts; wildlife; conservation; religion; christianity; theology; creation care; community development; awe;

    Abstract : The global human population is growing and occupies an increasing area of land. Consequently, human and wildlife populations overlap which leads to more and intensified human-wildlife conflicts. To solve those, conservationists increasingly try to understand and change people’s attitudes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Ann-Kathrin Wild; [2022]
    Keywords : trace elements; tree-rings; dendrochemistry; dendroclimatology; ITRAX; Laacher See; mofettes; tree-bark; Quercus sp.; Fagus sp.;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 5. 5. Automatic Pronoun Resolution for Swedish

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Camilla Ahlenius; [2020]
    Keywords : Pronoun resolution; Mitkov’s algorithm; Support Vector Machine; Supervised learning; SVM-Light-TK; Tree kernels; Dependency trees; Word embeddings; Pronomenbestämning; Mitkovs algoritm; Stödvektormaskin; Övervakad inlärning; SVM-Light-TK; Trädkärnor; Dependensträd; Ordvektorer;

    Abstract : This report describes a quantitative analysis performed to compare two different methods on the task of pronoun resolution for Swedish. The first method, an implementation of Mitkov’s algorithm, is a heuristic-based method — meaning that the resolution is determined by a number of manually engineered rules regarding both syntactic and semantic information.
