  1. 1. Analysis of fatty acids in fatty acid-based herbicides by gas chromatography

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Mohamad Abd Elwadood; [2023]
    Keywords : Analytical Chemistry; Fatty Acids; Gas Chromatography; Green Herbicides; Retention Index; Flame Ionization Detector; Mass Spectrometry; Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction.; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Fatty acids-based herbicides are considered to be a green alternative to synthesized weed control products. However, the environmentally sustainable effect of those herbicides needs more investigation to be confirmed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Integrated membrane reactor for the production of butyl butyrate starting from biomass

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Carlos Rubio; [2023]
    Keywords : butyl butyrate; butanol; butyric acid; membrane technology; enzymatic catalysis; butylbutyrat; butanol; smörsyra; membrane teknologi; enzymatisk katalys;

    Abstract : Efterfrågan på energi ökar snabbt, och denna trend förväntas bestå. Det råder dock ingen tvekan om att världen för närvarande befinner sig i en energikris, som är en katastrof både ekonomiskt och miljömässigt. Följaktligen är sökandet efter alternativa energikällor för att ersätta fossila bränslen absolut nödvändigt. READ MORE

  3. 3. Amino Acid Analysis : Establishment of a GC-FID method for Amino Acid Analysis in Legumes

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för kemi och biomedicin (KOB)

    Author : Ludvig Karlsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Amino Acids; GC-FID; Hydrolysis; Legumes; Aminosyror; GC-FID; Hydrolys; Baljväxter;

    Abstract : Demands for plant-based diets sufficient in all required amino acids are increasing due to health and environmental advantages. As legumes offer a complementing source of quality protein to the already heavily consumed cereals, methods for determining amino acid compositions in legumes are needed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 5. 5. Development of a GC Method for the Quantification of Short Chain Carboxylic Acids in Aqueous Solution

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Anton Åkervall; [2020]
    Keywords : DAI-GC-FID; Direct Aqueous Injection; Gas Chromatography; Flame Ionization Detector; SCFA; Short Chain Fatty Acids; Formic Acid; Acetic Acid; Lactic Acid; EGR; Exhaust Gas Recirculation; CAC; Charged Air Cooler; FFD; Fractional Factorial Design;

    Abstract : Petroleum powered vehicles emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through combustion that contributes to the pollution of the environment. A technique in the 1970s was developed to decrease these emissions, especially for nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphuric oxides (SOx) which is called exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). READ MORE
