  1. 1. Effect of temperature on early stage adhesion during TiAlN sliding against Inconel 718 and Stainless steel 316L : High temperature tribology

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Ahsan Ali; [2023]
    Keywords : High temperature tribology; Early-stage adhesion; Adhesive wear; Friction; Wear resistant coatings; Physical vapour deposition PVD coatings; TiAlN; Tungsten carbide WC Co ; Difficult to machine super alloys; Inconel 718; Stainless steel 316L; High-performance materials; Abrasion; Oxidation; Chipping; Ploughing; Characterization;

    Abstract : High-performance materials such as stainless steels and nickel based super alloys are widely used in demanding applications where high mechanical and thermal properties are required. The applications of super alloys are mainly found in jet engines, power plants and gas turbines demanding high fatigue strength, corrosion and oxidation resistance as well as wear resistant properties. 2. 2. CNC Engraver : Precision and flexibility of a miniature CNC engraver

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Rasmus Booberg; Martin Borgén; [2022]
    Keywords : CNC; Engraver; Arduino; diamond drag bit; GRBL; CNC; Gravyrmaskin; Arduino; diamond drag bit; GRBL;

    Abstract : This report documents the design and construction of a computer-controlled engraver (CNC engraver). Whereas most common machines used for this purpose are dimensioned towards milling, this project aims to create a dedicated engraver which could be of reduced size and complexity in comparison to standard CNC routers. 3. 3. Design of a braiding machine : For micro-tubing used in reconfigurable fluidic wearables

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Industriell teknik

    Author : Andreas Rishaug; Joakim Sandberg; [2022]
    Keywords : braid; braiding; braiding machine; Omnifibre; CNC; computer numerical control; CAM; computer aided manufacturing; manufacturing; milling; turning.;

    Abstract : In this project the objective is to understand how to design a braiding machine capable of automated production of Omnifibre in a research environment. Automated production of Omnifibre is the key issue for the researchers as they want to increase the weaveabilty of the fibers and make it more suitable for use in active textiles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis of implementing additive manufacturing for the making of casting patterns

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell Produktion

    Author : Simon Håkansson; [2022]
    Keywords : 3D-printing; additive; manufacturing; polymer; plastic; wood; pattern; casting; molding; vacuum; sand; ABS; milling; turning; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : I den här rapporten undersöks möjligheten för att tillverka och använda gjutmodeller tillverkade genom additiv tillverkning, i folkmun kallat 3D-printing. Först görs en grundläggande analys över hur modellerna tillverkas idag och vilka krav som ställs på modellen. READ MORE

  5. 5. Performance and Wear Behaviour of Coated and Uncoated Cemented Carbide Tools during Milling of Titanium Alloys

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell Produktion

    Author : Juan Manuel Bello Bermejo; [2022]
    Keywords : Titanium alloys; milling; wear mechanisms; wear behaviour; cutting tool performance.; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Purpose – The purpose of this project is to study the performance of uncoated versus coated cemented carbide tools when performing milling operations in heat treated titanium alloys, with the goal of establishing a base line of knowledge and methodology linked to these difficult-to-machine materials relevant for the metal cutting industry. Design/methodology/approach – The work that is carried out in this project comprise both literature review, that is presented as the state of the art as the necessary theoretical background to understand what is done; and experiments, that were designed and executed at Seco Tools in Fagersta in order to achieve the primary goal, testing and comparing different scenarios where cutting parameters played a key role.
