  1. 1. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction study of longitudinal optical phonons in zincblende semiconductors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lassi Linnala; [2022]
    Keywords : femtosecond THz radiation; ultrafast x-ray diffraction; pump-probe; longitudinal optical phonons; zincblende semiconductors; anharmonic decay; density functional perturbation theory; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Anharmonic decay of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons in zincblende semiconductors is not at present well characterized due to the polar and many-body nature of the problem. Femtosecond THz radiation offers a novel route to this study, as the interaction of this radiation is directly with the phonon lattice and these THz excited phonons do not have enough energy to excite electrons over the band gap. 2. 2. Optimizing numerical modelling of quantum computing hardware

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Yasir Al-Latifi; [2021]
    Keywords : Quantum computers; transmon qubits; rotating-wave approximation; energy levels;

    Abstract : Quantum computers are being developed to solve certain problems faster than classical computers. Instead of using classical bits, they use quantum bits (qubits) that utilize quantum effects. READ MORE

  3. 3. Targeted Energy Transfer in Bose-Einstein Condensates

    University essay from Teoretisk Fysik; Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Robin Karhu; [2013]
    Keywords : Bose-Einstein condensate; Targeted Energy Transfer; Gross-Pitaevskii equation; resonance; anharmonic oscillators;

    Abstract : Targeted Energy Transfer is a resonance phenomenon in coupled anharmonic oscillators. In this thesis we investigate if the concept of Targeted Energy Transfer is applicable to Bose-Einsteain condensates in optical lattices. The model used to describe Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices is based on the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. READ MORE
