  1. 1. Synthesis of aromatic thiol ligands for the formation of thermoelectric materials

    University essay from KTH/Kemi

    Author : Clément Bouchut; [2024]
    Keywords : ligand; organic chemistry; organic synthesis; thermoelectric materials; thiol; ligand; organisk kemi; organisk syntes; termoelektriska material; tiol;

    Abstract : I detta arbete så har en uppsättning aromatiska ditiol-ligander framställts (3,5-dimerkaptobensoesyra I, methyl-3,5-dimerkaptobensoat II, 3,5-dimerkaptotoluen III, 4,6-dimerkaptoisoftalaldehyde IV). En trestegssyntes innehållande Newman-Kwart omlagring som nyckelsteg användes för framställning av föreningarna I-III medan förening IV togs fram via en annan syntesväg. READ MORE

  2. 2. Robust and Biocompatible Bonding of Hybrid Microfluidic Devices Using Off-Stoichiometric Thiol-ene Thermosets

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Peter Harris; [2023]
    Keywords : OSTE; OSTE ; Microfluidics; Thermoset; Bonding; Thermoplastics; Biocompatibility; OSTE; OSTE ; Mikrofluidik; Härdplast; Binding; Termoplaster; Biokompatibilitet;

    Abstract : Some of the major obstacles the microfluidics industry has yet to overcome in order to facilitate large scale manufacturing of devices are costly back-end processes. Among these, bonding presents some of the most obvious difficulties and is often associated with structural deformation and surface modification. READ MORE

  3. 3. A viscoelastic evaluation of an injectable disulfide cross-linked thiol-collagen hydrogel: for tissue bulking post-myocardial infarction to prevent heart failure

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Makromolekylär kemi

    Author : Karin Dungner; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular diseases are currently the leading cause of death globally. Progression of the disease affects the composition and function of the heart and in many cases subsequently results in heart failure over time where a heart transplant is vital. Therefore, there is a need for medical treatments to stop the progression of the disease. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 5. 5. Designing an optmized met X/Y enzymes for an efficient methionine production in E.coli

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Author : Luísa Rodrigues; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Methionine is a proteinogenic amino acid critical amino for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and agricultural industries. The overall methionine biosynthetic pathway is as follows: 1. Acetylation of homoserine and its subsequent activation 2. Formation of homoserine through the replacement hydroxyl group by a thiol group, 3. READ MORE
