  1. 16. A Linux-based, Web-oriented operating system designed to boot quickly

    University essay from RTSLAB - Laboratoriet för realtidssystem; Tekniska högskolan

    Author : Ulf Magnusson; [2011]
    Keywords : Linux; Boot time; WebOS; Web Operating System; Netbook; Embedded systems;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design and implementation of a Linux-based, Web-oriented operating system called Awesom-O, designed with a focus on short boot time and small disk footprint. Among other techniques for lowering boot time, a semi-automatic method for generating a Linux kernel of minimal size for a given platform is developed, making use of an interpreter for the Linux kernel’s configuration language, Kconfig. 3. 18. Design of an FPGA Based JTAG Recorder for use in Production of IPTV Set-Top Boxes

    University essay from Datorteknik

    Author : Robert Andreasson; [2009]
    Keywords : JTAG; FPGA; Set-Top Box; DDR SDRAM; UART;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the possibility to replace the manufacturer dependent JTAG device used in the production tests of IPTV set-top boxes for storing the boot loader in the main memory in order to start the box for the first time. An FPGA based prototype was built in order to see if it is possible to record the JTAG signals, to an external DDR SDRAM, without understanding them and be able to perform a delayed playback resulting in the same bahavoir as with the original JTAG device.
