11. Utilization of evacuation model for airports using risk based fire safety scenario
University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för BrandteknikAbstract : This report focuses the use of egress models to study the airport evacuation with special focus on security doors in case of total evacuation in airport terminal buildings. Case studies are made in arrival hall and departure hall of the airport terminal based on the scenarios identified in a preliminary risk analysis carried out in the terminal. READ MORE

12. Concept selection of normally unmanned installations in the North Sea
University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik; Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och SamhällssäkerhetAbstract : Should a normally unmanned installation rely on helicopter shuttling to allow for the people working there to be accommodated at another platform during the resting periods with regards to the potential loss of life (PLL)? Would the risk the personnel are exposed to increase or decrease if the need for helicopter shuttling was eliminated due to a different design allowing for periodic manning of the installation? The purpose of this study is to develop a coarse framework, a model, for risk-based concept selection of normally unmanned installations (NUI) in the North Sea by comparison of PLL. The results of the model will be used to indicate, with regards to PLL, whether a NUI should be designed to allow for periodical manning instead of relying on helicopter shuttling to an accommodation platform during. 13. Model-Based Hazard Analysis of Undesirable Environmental and Components Interaction
University essay from Institutionen för datavetenskapAbstract : Identifying the detrimental effect of environmental factors and subsystem interactions are one of themost challenging aspects of early hazard assessment in the design of complex safety critical systems. Therefore, a complete understanding of potential failure effects before the catastrophe happens is a verydifficult task. 14. Assessing Fire Safety in Maritime Composite Superstructures –- A Risk-Based Approach
University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik; Lunds universitet/Brandingenjörsprogrammet; Lunds universitet/Riskhantering (CI); Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och SamhällssäkerhetAbstract : Reduced weight and maintenance make it advantageous to replace steel with Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in maritime applications, but being combustible makes fire safety a burning issue. A new methodology in regulations has opened up for innovative design solutions if they can be regarded as safe as a design complying with all prescriptive requirements. READ MORE
