  1. 16. Validation of a method utilising MR images for dose planning of prostate cancer treatment : Validation of new coil technology applied on the pelvis region of healthy volunteers

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för hälsa, medicin och vård

    Author : Tova Rung; [2022]
    Keywords : Synthetic CT; Air coil;

    Abstract : By generating a synthetic CT image (sCT) directly from the MRI, the electron density can be calculated, and the CT examination can be excluded from the patient flow minimizing the risk of uncertainties in the registration. Basing the radiation treatment process solely on MR images is called MRI-only and is beneficial for the patient as it can provide more accurate radiation treatment than the standardised treatment with fewer CT examinations and possibly a more cost-effective radiation treatment process. 2. 17. Verification measurements on MRI-linac with PTW BEAMSCAN MR

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Olivia Kvarnlöf; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In radiotherapy the main goal is to kill cancer cells, prevent them from growing and reproducing, while healthy tissue is spared. One technique to treat cancer is to use external radiotherapy where a linear accelerator (linac) is used to generate a high energy radiation photon beam. READ MORE

  3. 18. Preparations for photon external beam radiotherapy treatment planning of small animals

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Joanie Diha Guei; [2022]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Introduction:The XenX is a small animal irradiation system that acquires high-resolution cone-beam tomography (CBCT) images of small animals and treats small animals with higher precision than medical linear accelerators. MuriSlice is a software for CBCT image reconstruction. READ MORE

  4. 19. Hypoxic Target Volume Determination in PET/CT Imaging : The Impact of Deformable Image Registration

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Viktor Rosenberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Positron emission tomography; image registration; hypoxic tumour volume; dose escalation; tumour control probability;

    Abstract : Using a tailored dose distribution for personalized radiotherapy with the help of positron emission tomography (PET) might give an edge for successful tumour elimination. One of the main determinants for tumour radioresistance in several solid tumours has been investigated as hypoxia, including head and neck cancer (HNC). READ MORE

  5. 20. COMPARISON OF MULTI-CRITERIA OPTIMIZATION IN TWO DIFFERENT TREATMENT PLANNING SYSTEMS

    University essay from

    Author : Anna Lindström; [2021-05-10]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Multi-criteria optimization; Pareto front; volumetric modulated arc therapy; head and neck cancer; prostate cancer;

    Abstract : Purpose: The purpose with this study was to compare multi-criteria optimization (MCO) for volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment plans in two different treatment planning systems. Theory: When performing treatment planning prior to radiation therapy it is important to prioritize between absorbed dose to target and absorbed dose to organs at risk (OAR). READ MORE
