  1. 26. Dynamics for the special class of quantum master equations

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för matematik (MA)

    Author : Locatelli Pietro; [2022]
    Keywords : superoperators; density matrices; von Neumann entropy; camel-like entropy; steady states; open quantum systems; dynamical semigroups; decoherence free subspaces;

    Abstract : The paper is an analysis of a special class of the master equations such that the Dissipation superoperator is L(ρ) = [M, [M, ρ]], where M is an hermitian andunitary operator and ρ a density matrix. It mainly investigates the dynamics ofρ and its properties such as boundness of the operators of the master equation,the eigenvalues of these operators, the purity of the states, the steady states. 2. 27. The Future We Want To Want : Temporal Equity Within Sustainable Development Discourse

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Företagsekonomiska institutionen

    Author : Nicole Fleming; [2022]
    Keywords : Sustainable Development; Discourse; Equity; Temporality; Institutional Logics; Order of Worth;

    Abstract : This study explores the contradiction between the ways the institutional field of sustainable development has for decades been defined conceptually by a temporal sense of equity, or the aim of meeting the needs of both present and future generations, and the glaring lack of definition for the concept. Through discursive analysis, this study finds sustainable development discourse to precariously conceptualize equity according to multiple, incompatible institutional logics, and to conceptualize time in highly ambiguous ways. 3. 28. Estimation of dissolved organic carbon from inland waters using remote sensing data and machine learning

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Lasse Harkort; [2022]
    Keywords : dissolved organic carbon; machine learning; remote sensing; inland waters; water quality; open source data; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the first attempt to estimate Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) in inland waters over a large-scale area using satellite data and machine learning (ML) methods. Four ML approaches, namely Random Forest Regression (RFR), Support Vector Regression (SVR), Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), and a Multilayer Backpropagation Neural Network (MBPNN) were tested to retrieve DOC using a filtered version of the recently published open source AquaSat dataset with more than 16 thousand samples across the continental US matched with satellite data from Landsat 5, 7 and 8 missions. 4. 29. Temporal Dynamics In Microplastics Within An Indoor Environment: Insights From A Novel Tape-Lifting Method

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Author : Matilda Wiklund; [2022]
    Keywords : Microplastics; tape-lifting; atmospheric fallout; urban environments; Mikroplast;

    Abstract : Microplastics (MPs) constitute a risk to both human and environmental health. It is vital to identify sources and pathways to take the necessary action and limit the number of MPs in our environments. However, we currently have a limited understanding regarding MPs' variation with time in urban environments in an indoor setting. READ MORE

  5. 30. Investigating the dynamics controlling dissolved organic matter bioreactivity in agricultural stream water and its link to carbon evasion : A statistical analysis

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Sara Schützer; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : While streams and rivers emit large quantities of CO2 to the atmosphere, both the mechanisms controlling CO2 evasion as well as the sources of CO2 are still uncertain. One potential source of stream CO2 is in-stream degradation of dissolved organic matter (DOM). READ MORE
