Abstract: Background: In the past few years, the aging of the population had become a commonproblem. Due to the decline of body organs and function in the older adults, they facedmany troubles. This also made the care for them become a difficult issue. In response,some family members chose to take care of them at home, while others tended toarrange them in long-term care facilities with specialized services. As a result, thedemand for long-term care facilities and their nursing staffs rose dramatically. However,the older adults in long-term care facilities had acquired many various experiences dueto themselves or facilities.Aim: The aim of the study was to describe the experience of the living situation aftertransition to long-term care facilities from the perspectives of older adults.Methods: This was a descriptive literature review, and the authors used both thePubMed and CINAHL databases to search for relevant references. A total of 32 articlesscreened, 12 of which were used in the results.Results: The authors discussed seven topics related to the purpose of the study: 1) Thechoice for the rest of life, 2) Face life negatively, 3) Looking for emotional comfort, 4)Lack of autonomy, 5) Keep optimistic attitudes, 6) Improve nursing service, 7) Someperceptions about life and death.Conclusions: Older adults were generally optimistic about living in long-term carefacilities.Keywords: Long-term care facilities; Lived experience; Nursing home; Older adults.
