HEAT SIMULATION IN SAUNA BATHING ROOMS USING ANSYS SOFTWARE

University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

Abstract: This thesis work presents a detailed simulation study of heat transfer in sauna roomsusing ANSYS CFD and CFX software. Sauna rooms are widely used for relaxation therapy andtheir performance is largely dependent on their ability to maintain the desired temperature andhumidity levels. The simulation model developed in this study is based on the fundamentalprinciples of heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics, and is validated usingexperimental data. The study focuses on the effects of different design parameters, such asheater location, air flow rate, ventilation rate, and wall insulation, on the temperature andhumidity distribution in the sauna room. The simulation is expected to predict flow of air insidethe room and heat transfer by natural and forced convection inside the room. The results arecompared with experimental data, and the effects of different design parameters on thetemperature and humidity distribution are investigated. The results of this study provideinsights into the heat transfer process in sauna rooms and can be used to optimize the designand operation of sauna facilities.
