  1. 1. Non-Diffractive Nuclear Excitations In Angantyr

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Carl Rosenkvist; [2023]
    Keywords : Heavy-ion; non-diffractive; nuclear excitation; secondary interactions; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : To better understand collectivity in high energy physics, the heavy-ion collision model Angantyr was developed to be included in the event generator Pythia. In this model, proton-proton collision phenomenology is extrapolated to heavy-ion collisions without assuming a thermal plasma for particle production. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Energy Dependence of Parameters in PYTHIA8 Heavy-ion Collision Simulations

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Felipe Abedrapo; [2022]
    Keywords : Heavy-ion Collisions; PYTHIA; Angantyr; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Particle collisions are an essential component to the research methodology of particle physics. These investigations are not only conducted in experimental laboratories but also through programs such as PYTHIA that simulate a collision or ``event" and then compare its results to known experimental data. 3. 3. Geometry studies of high energy 16O collisions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Aliaksei Kuzmenka; [2022]
    Keywords : Ion Collisions; Oxygen; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project a model of oxygen, 16O, nuclei, where the nucleons are organised in α-clusters, was implemented in the Pythia Monte Carlo event generator. To study the effects of the new model, some observables, such as the distribution of the number of the wounded nucleons, charged particle multiplicity in the forward and central pseudorapidity region, and the pseudorapidity distribution for different centrality bins and eccentricity, are compared to the model originally implemented in Pythia (Woods-Saxon). 4. 4. Investigation of Impact Parameter Profiles in Multi-Parton Interactions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Martin Korsfeldt; [2020]
    Keywords : Angantyr; Impact Parameter; Multiparton Interaction; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to implement an alternative method to calculate the overlap function, which describe to what extent two protons overlap with each other spatially, into PYTHIA8 in order to determine how it affected the average number of multiparton interactions. The new overlap function is based on an explicit impact parameter picture, whereas PYTHIA8s overlap function uses an implicit impact parameter picture. READ MORE

  5. 5. Principal Component Analyses of Final States in Relativistic Nuclear Collisions using PYTHIA/Angantyr

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Nicoline Krogh Hemme; [2020]
    Keywords : Relativistic Nuclear Collisions; Heavy-ion Collisions; Pythia; Angantyr; String Shoving; Colour Reconnection; Principal Component Analysis; Anisotropic Flow; Elliptic Flow; Event-by-event Fluctuations; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : We develop a program to perform a principal component analysis of flow fluctuations using simulations of nuclear collisions produced by the PYTHIA/Angantyr event generator. We consider both p+p and p+Pb collision events and study the leading and subleading modes of the second flow harmonic. READ MORE
